Tristan da Silva
Tristan da Silva goes off for game-high 25 points
Mon, Sep 1, 2025, 5:30 AM
Tristan da Silva finished Monday's rout of Great Britain with 25 points (10-of-12 FGs), five rebounds, two assists, one steal, two blocks and five three-pointers.
Analysis: After scoring seven points or less in each of Germany's first three games at EuroBasket, da Silva got hot against an overmatched Great Britain squad on Monday. The Orlando Magic wing shot 5-of-7 from beyond the arc and was perfect from two, leading the way offensively with Dennis Schröder (19/2/5/1 with two three-pointers) and Franz Wagner (18/1/10/1 with three three-pointers) also hitting double figures. Da Silva may get most of his scoring opportunities as a catch-and-shoot option in Orlando next season, so the three-point shooting is noteworthy, especially after he shot 33.5 percent from deep as a rookie.
Goga Bitadze
Bitadze scores 22 points in loss to Italy
Sat, Aug 30, 2025, 6:34 AM
Goga Bitadze led Georgia with 22 points (9-of-13 FGs), four rebounds, three blocks, one three-pointer and five turnovers in a 78-62 loss to Italy on Saturday.
Analysis: Georgia moves to 1-1 in EuroBasket with this loss to Italy, but that hasn't prevented Bitadze from having success in the tournament. He has 37 points and three triples through two games, and he'll continue to carry the offensive load for Georgia. Bitadze likely won't see this much usage for Orlando next season, but he'll be an effective reserve with streaming upside.
Franz Wagner
Wagner pours in 24/7/4/3 line vs. Lithuania
Sat, Aug 30, 2025, 6:29 AM
Franz Wagner finished with 24 points (9-of-17 FGs), seven rebounds, four assists, three steals and two three-pointers against Lithuania on Saturday.
Analysis: Wagner is averaging 22.3 points through the first three games of EuroBasket, and no team has come close to beating Germany. Wagner, who should be in for a big season for the Magic, is having plenty of success in this tournament. He also hit two triples in this game after only hitting one in their first two; if Wagner is able to improve his deep-range shooting, he could make his first All-Star appearance.
Franz Wagner
Franz Wagner drops 21 in blowout victory
Fri, Aug 29, 2025, 6:19 AM
Franz Wagner finished Friday's blowout win over Sweden with 21 points, three rebounds, a steal, a block and a triple across 23 minutes.
Analysis: Like his teammate Dennis Schroder (23 points), Wagner finished with at least 20 points in consecutive Eurobasket contests. The dynamic duo are the reason why Germany is one of the favorites to win Eurobasket 2025, and more performances like this are likely on the horizon.
Goga Bitadze
Goga Bitadze tallies 15 points, five rebounds
Thu, Aug 28, 2025, 5:20 AM
Goga Bitadze finished Thursday's EuroBasket win over Spain with 15 points (6-of-11 FGs, 1-of-4 FTs), five rebounds, two assists, one steal and two three-pointers.
Analysis: Bitadze was one of five players to score in double figures as George knocked off reigning EuroBasket champions Spain in the group play opener for both teams. While he hit a crucial fourth-quarter three-pointer (followed by a ) to help the Georgians pull away, the Orlando Magic center was especially impactful on the offensive glass. Four of Bitadze's five rebounds were of the offensive variety, and George finished with 16 offensive boards as a team. By comparison, Spain grabbed 18 defensive rebounds. Bitadze is another example of a player who will receive more opportunities with his national team than his NBA squad, as he'll come off the bench in Orlando. However, in the past, he has been an effective streamer for stretches when the Magic were without Wendell Carter Jr.
Franz Wagner
Franz Wagner scores team-high 22 points in big win
Wed, Aug 27, 2025, 5:30 AM
Franz Wagner led Germany with 22 points (8-of-15 FGs), eight rebounds, one assist and two steals in a 106-76 win over Montenegro.
Analysis: Wagner turned in a strong performance to help Germany, who went undefeated at the FIBA World Cup in 2023, start off EuroBasket with a monster victory. Wagner should be in for a big season with the Magic, and it's good to see him playing well this summer. Germany is one of the favorites to win the tournament, and more performances like this from Wagner will help make that happen.
Colin Castleton
Report: Magic sign Colin Castleton
Fri, Aug 22, 2025, 10:39 AM
Michael Scotto
HoopsHype's Michael Scotto reports the Magic signed Colin Castleton.
Analysis: Castleton, waived by the Raptors in late July, has reportedly found a new home. He's joining the Magic on what will likely be an Exhibit 10 contract, which allows the 6-foot-10 center to compete for Orlando's final standard contract or a two-way deal. The Magic hold Castleton's G League rights, so the latter option may be his more likely path. Between Memphis, Toronto and Philadelphia, he appeared in 26 NBA games last season, averaging 4.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 16.6 minutes.
Lester Quinones
Report: Magic, Lester Quiñones agree to deal
Mon, Aug 18, 2025, 9:11 AM
Michael Scotto
HoopsHype's Michael Scotto reports the Magic and Lester Quiñones have agreed to a deal.
Analysis: Quiñones, who finished the 2024-25 season with the Pelicans before being waived last month, will compete for either a standard contract or a two-way contract slot with the Magic. Over three NBA seasons, he's appeared in 54 games, averaging 4.8 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 11.0 minutes. Even if Quiñones does enough in training camp to earn a standard contract, he's unlikely to impact fantasy basketball next season.
Jamal Cain
Report: Magic sign Jamal Cain to two-way contract
Fri, Jul 25, 2025, 1:57 PM
Jason Beede
Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel reports the Magic signed Jamal Cain to a two-way contract.
Analysis: Cain appeared in 37 games for the Pelicans last season after spending his first two seasons with the Heat organization. On a two-way deal, the 6-foot-6 wing appeared in 37 NBA games in 2024-25, averaging 5.3 points and 2.3 rebounds in 13.6 minutes. Outside of the occasional solid performance as the Pelicans were playing out the string, Cain did not impact fantasy basketball. That's likely to be the case in Orlando next season.
Orlando Robinson
Magic sign Orlando Robinson to two-way contract
Mon, Jul 21, 2025, 9:28 AM
Orlando Magic
Magic signed PF/C Orlando Robinson to a two-way contract.
Analysis: Robinson, who spent last season with the Raptors and Kings, will get a fresh start back in Florida after spending the first two years of his career with the Heat. Robinson will likely spend most of his time in the G League, and it will be a tall task for him to move up the depth chart with Wendell Carter Jr., Goga Bitadze and Moritz Wagner playing the center minutes.
Wendell Moore
Wendell Moore Jr. leads Orlando with 14 points
Fri, Jul 18, 2025, 11:48 AM
Wendell Moore Jr. amassed 14 points (5-of-11 FGs, 4-of-5 FTs) and eight rebounds in Friday's loss to the Mavericks.
Analysis: Orlando has only filled one of its three two-way contract slots, with Ethan Thompson signing a deal in February. With Moore having ended the 2024-25 season on a two-way deal with the Hornets, he may be a candidate to fill a similar role for the Magic next season. While the former first-round pick was a frigid 0-of-5 from beyond the arc in Friday's summer league finale, he was an active contributor defensively and on the glass. At the very least, Moore will hope his play in Las Vegas was enough to gain an invitation to training camp, whether with Orlando or another team.
Tristan da Silva
Tristan da Silva records 18/5/1/2/1 line vs. TOR
Sun, Jul 13, 2025, 3:11 PM
Tristan da Silva accumulated 18 points (6-of-13 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs), five rebounds, one assist, two steals, one block and three three-pointers in Sunday's loss to the Raptors.
Analysis: Da Silva was once again among Orlando's offensive leaders on Sunday, and he threw in some defensive stats for good measure. The lone negative was the turnover count, as the second-year forward was responsible for six on the night. Of course, the starring role the Magic are asking da Silva to take in Las Vegas is not in line with what he'll be asked to do once the games truly count. That said, the increased responsibility may benefit his long-term development as the Magic look to contend in the East.
Tristan da Silva
Tristan da Silva tallies team-high 19 points
Thu, Jul 10, 2025, 3:53 PM
Tristan da Silva accumulated 19 points (8-of-15 FGs, 1-of-2 FTs), seven rebounds, five assists, one block and two three-pointers in Thursday's loss to the Kings.
Analysis: With Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero missing extended periods last season due to injury, da Silva took on a larger role than many anticipated before the 2024-25 season. He was solid as a rookie, eventually doing enough to merit being streamed while the Magic awaited the return of their star forwards. Da Silva got his summer off to a good start on Thursday, shooting over 50 percent from the field and providing solid value in rebounds and assists. While unlikely to be a must-draft player in standard leagues, da Silva should again be a fixture in the Magic rotation after averaging 22.0 minutes per game as a rookie.
Paolo Banchero
Shams: Banchero agrees to five-year max extension
Mon, Jul 7, 2025, 12:40 PM
Shams Charania
ESPN's Shams Charania reports Paolo Banchero has agreed to a five-year maximum rookie extension that could reach up to $287 million.
Analysis: The 2022 No.1 overall pick now has a contract in place that proves he was worth the early selection. It also includes a player option in the fifth year. Banchero is coming off averaging 25.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.9 three-pointers per game as the Magic lost in the first round of the playoffs for the second straight season. In a weaker Eastern Conference next season, Banchero will have a chance to lead Orlando deep into the postseason. From a fantasy perspective, Banchero's woeful shooting percentages and defensive contributions weighed him down last year and he's likely to come off the board in the 25-50 range in drafts. Desmond Bane joining the Magic may cut Banchero's usage in a bit in 2025-26, which may help him shoot a better percentage.
Moritz Wagner
Moritz Wagner inks one-year, $5M deal with Orlando
Fri, Jul 4, 2025, 3:57 AM
Shams Charania
ESPN's Shams Charania reports the Magic signed PF/C Moritz Wagner has agreed to a one-year, $5 million deal.
Analysis: Wagner tore his ACL in December, and he'll miss time to start the 2025-26 season. Before suffering the injury, he averaged career highs in points (12.9), rebounds (4.9) and three-point percentage (36) in just 18.8 minutes per game. Once he returns, he'll likely take on a similar role as a microwave scorer and spacer off the bench.
Tyus Jones
Shams: Magic sign Tyus Jones to one-year contract
Mon, Jun 30, 2025, 2:25 PM
Shams Charania
ESPN's Shams Charania reports the Magic signed G Tyus Jones to a one-year, $7 million deal.
Analysis: The Magic needed to improve their depth at point guard, and signing Jones accomplishes that objective. His one season in Phoenix was a disappointment, with the veteran guard being moved out of the starting lineup for good in mid-March. Appearing in 81 games, Jones averaged 10.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 2.0 three-pointers in 26.8 minutes. In Orlando, he'll likely serve as Jalen Suggs' backup, but there may be opportunities for streaming value due to Jalen's injury history.
Gary Harris
Magic decline options for Gary Harris, Cory Joseph
Mon, Jun 16, 2025, 4:04 PM
Michael Scotto
Magic declined team options on G/F Gary Harris and G Cory Joseph.
Analysis: As part of the trade, Orlando declined its team options on Harris (worth $7.5 million) and Joseph ($3.47 million) for salary cap purposes. The Magic upgraded their perimeter rotation with the Bane trade, which was completed on Sunday. However, the team will have some work to do this summer regarding their depth behind starters Bane and Jalen Suggs. Both players will be unrestricted free agents on June 30. Neither player logged consistent rotation minutes for the Magic last season, and their exits (if they do not re-sign with Orlando) would not impact fantasy basketball.
Desmond Bane
Shams: Magic acquire Desmond Bane from Memphis
Sun, Jun 15, 2025, 5:24 AM
Shams Charania
ESPN's Shams Charania reports the Magic have acquired Desmond Bane from the Grizzlies in exchange for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Cole Anthony, four unprotected first-round picks and a pick swap.
Analysis: The Magic have long needed an upgrade at the shooting guard position, and they've taken a significant swing at addressing the issue with Sunday's reported trade. In 69 games this season, he averaged 19.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.2 steals and 2.4 three-pointers, shooting 48.4 percent from the field and 89.4 percent from the foul line. Bane has been one of the best shooting guards in the NBA over the last three seasons, due to the ability to both knock down perimeter shots and defend his position. Given the state of the Eastern Conference, Orlando's decision to make this move is understandable, as it significantly improves the starting lineup.
Moritz Wagner
Wagner (knee) hopes to be ready for next season
Sun, May 11, 2025, 6:26 AM
Orlando Sentinel
Moritz Wagner (knee) said recently that he hopes to be fully healthy in time for the start of the 2025-26 season.
Analysis: Wagner tore the ACL in his left knee just before Christmas, robbing the Magic of a player who was among the most productive reserves in the NBA at that time. Boasting an 18-12 record at the time of his injury, the Magic finished the regular season 41-41 and were eliminated by two-seed Boston in the first round of the playoffs. While Wagner did not provide specifics regarding his recovery process, he aims to be cleared in time for the start of next season. “That's part of the rehab ??" you go day-by-day, you figure it out, but, of course, that's what I'm working toward,” Wagner told the Orlando Sentinel when asked about his availability for the beginning of the 2025-26 season. “I'm pretty positive-minded toward that.” Wagner has a team option for next season and has expressed a desire to return to Orlando. Fantasy-wise, he's been most impactful as a streamer when the Magic were without starting center Wendell Carter Jr.
Wendell Carter
Wendell Carter Jr. posts 12/10/1/2 line in Game 5
Tue, Apr 29, 2025, 5:49 PM
Wendell Carter Jr. recorded 12 points (5-of-10 FGs, 2-of-4 FTs), 10 rebounds, one assist and two steals in 34 minutes in a Game 5 loss to the Celtics on Tuesday.
Analysis: Carter reached double digits in rebounds in four of the five games, recording two double-doubles. While he certainly wasn't elite, the Magic center had a decent finish to his fourth full season with the franchise. Appearing in 68 regular-season games, Carter's scoring output decreased, but he was more productive in rebounds, assists, steals and blocked shots. Unfortunately, the starting role has not made WCJ a significant fantasy asset, as he finished the season ranked outside the top-175 in category leagues and outside the top-150 in points leagues. With three guaranteed seasons remaining on his contract, Carter will likely go into training camp locked into the starting center role.
